The leaf
Mi Lan Xiang — ‘honey orchid fragrance’ — is the most beloved of the Phoenix Dan Cong oolongs, famous for tasting naturally of flowers and fruit with no additive at all. From semi-wild bushes on the misty upper slopes, it’s astonishingly aromatic: honey and orchid up front, ripe apricot beneath, a nutty almond tail. A tea that smells like a garden and drinks like a dessert.
